The best of American history and art in one spot
The New York Historical, the city’s first museum, shares over 400 years of American history through art, documents, and artifacts.
Permanent exhibitions include the Gallery of Tiffany Lamps, the Audubon Birds of America Focus Gallery, a re-creation of the Oval Office, and _Our Composite Nation: Frederick Douglass’ America_. You can also visit the DiMenna Children’s History Museum.
In the auditorium, watch films such as _New York Story_, a 20-minute overview of the city’s history, and _We Rise_, which explores how women shaped change in the US and the world.
There are daily tours of the collections (free for ticket holders) at 13:00 and 14:30
. The use of flash, tripods, and selfie-sticks is prohibited in all areas of the museum
