Before becoming a museum in 1793, the Louvre served for centuries as one of the main residences of the kings of France. Located in the heart of Paris and covering more than 73,000 m², it houses the largest collection of artworks in the world, spanning over 9,000 years of history—from ancient civilizations to the 19th century. The collections are organized into eight departments: Egyptian Antiquities, Greek, Etruscan and Roman Antiquities, Near Eastern Antiquities, Islamic Art, Paintings, Sculptures, and Decorative Arts.

Meet your guide at the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel, where the group will be welcomed before beginning the tour. With your reserved access, your guide will lead you directly to the museum’s most important masterpieces on a carefully planned orientation route.

Your itinerary includes must-see highlights such as the Mona Lisa, painted by Leonardo da Vinci around 1506, the medieval foundations of the former palace, and ancient treasures like the Venus de Milo and the Caryatids. You will also pass through the Etruscan collections, explore Pharaonic Egypt with the famous Seated Scribe and an Egyptian mummy, and admire the Galerie d’Apollon and its royal jewels.

The tour continues with great French paintings such as Liberty Leading the People, the decorative arts of the French kings, and the lavish apartments of Napoleon III. You will also visit the Richelieu Wing, home to magnificent French sculptures.

Finally, the visit explores the rich history of the ancient Near East through the civilizations of Mesopotamia, Syria, and Persia—remarkable cultures that bear witness to the origins of writing, architecture, and early civilization.

Please arrive at the meeting point 20 minutes before the start of the tour.
